EMTS in Khabarovsk

Posted on 18 January 2009

The first single multipurpose telecommunications network (EMTS), built in Khabarovsk, unite into a single information space of 489 municipal enterprises and institutions, as well as all the structural units of the city administration.

The introduction of EMTS would allow internal corporate telephone communications between subscribers of the network by increasing the number field to 18 thousand phone numbers. The total length of optical fiber routes, connecting all municipal facilities will be about 500 km.

Construction of EMTS in Khabarovsk began in 2007 and is held in the framework of the strategic plan for sustainable development of the city until 2020, providing for the automation and computerization of all processes of urban development that ultimately will enhance the quality of life of citizens.

Implementation of the project lies with the municipal unitary enterprise «Strela». Under the agreements signed the construction of trunk optical fiber routes conducted operators, service providers in the territory of Khabarovsk at their own expense. Total project cost is about 50 million rubles.

At the stage of preparation and administration of Khabarovsk EMTS design competition leading to the city to create an optical network solution was purchased Cisco MPLS, providing high performance, scalability, reliability and protection of information.

Multiprotokolnoy switching technology based on tags (Multiprotocol Label Switching, MPLS) enables corporate clients and providers to create next-generation intelligent network that can support many advanced services.

A distinctive feature of this technology lies in the possibility of virtual private network (MPLS IP VPN), which allows for collaborative work units and enterprises with different requirements as to the bandwidth, and access to network services and resources.

Integration of application components MPLS, including such as VPN network level 2 and 3, Traffic Engineering (Traffic Engineering) and quality management of service (QoS), GMPLS and IPV6 can create highly efficient, scalable and secure network.

The total length of fiber-optic lines EMTS Khabarovsk, which has 36 tracks, is now 210 km. Construct an additional 11 tracks total length of 30 km.

Functional EMTS, including today 8 switching centers, enables data transfer between various municipal institutions and structural units in various information systems in virtually any time, as well as simplify and streamline their work. Source: Press office of Cisco Systems
